Pelaw Youth Centre was opened in 1985 with money from Central Government and Gateshead Council and is located etween Heworth and Pelaw Metro stations on Shields Road, Pelaw.

The Centre caters in the main for young people aged 13-19 years by providing both Centre Based and Detached Youth Work. Some work is also done with those under 13 and we have a growing group of those in the 3rd Age (over 55's)

The aim of Pelaw Youth Centre is to provide a safe, friendly, learning environment which encourages and enables children and young people to develop the skills, knowledge and values necessary to take greater control of their lives and to participate more fully in their communities.
